The Baby's Room

Well in anticipation of our "any day now" baby - we have gotten the baby's room as ready as we can without knowing if it is a boy or girl! It's pretty plain for now... The quilt on the crib is from my Grandma Batt - she has made one for each of the kids and they are so beautiful - we are so lucky to have things like this from her!!
Kobe is still in baseball and it is keeping us SO busy! He has games tonight and tomorrow and then a tournament coming up in the next couple weeks. If anyone wants to come to a game the season is near an end so please let me know and i will tell you his schedule - he LOVES to have people come to watch him play. He is pretty fired up because Aunt Karen's oldest son Gabe called and is taking him fishing Sunday night. He can't wait - we are so lucky to have such an amazing family that is always taking him to do things - truly Kobe and I still just couldn't feel any luckier to be a part of such an amazing family! Madison is at every game of her "Bubba's" and cheering him on - she loves going to them! It is pretty fun because almost all of Kobe's closest friends have little sisters that are around Maddie's age or younger and they are so great to her too - she loves all the attention!
No baby news yet - and no idea when we will have any - but hopefully soon!

Fun Weekend!!

Well - we had a pretty fun weekend enjoying the gorgeous weather outside and taking advantage of still being a family of 4 and easily able to run around and do things!
Saturday was "Elkhorn Day" so I took the kids to the pancake breakfast and (Madison's first!) parade. Kobe is now the proud owner of about a 20 pound bag of candy and Madison was happy with the flags and freeze pops and enjoying the company of her little friend Mallory who happens to be my best friend, Katie's, little niece. They had a great time and got to even go spend some time with just Nana and Boppa doing some of the other events that day while I got to go shoot pictures of Katie's other newborn niece, from a different brother, named Julia who is an absolute doll and it was so great to get to meet her - they have such a perfect little family. That evening my parents and I took the kids to the Summer Arts Festival to hang out. Sunday we had some more fun in the sun with squirt gun fights, sprinklers and more "pool time" in a slightly upgraded pool - hahaha... Fortunately Kobe still is not above doing just about anything to get a smile out of Madison, even if it means wearing her pink polk-a-dot hat. Madison has mastered climbing the stairs and is loving her new found freedom. We even got to end the weekend with dinner at Aunt Karen's which happens to be a family favorite - the food was great and we got to see our new baby cousin Addison who could not have been any more adorable.

Moving Right Along...

Went to the doctor today and have dilated to 3 now. So things are moving along and changing and he basically just said to get ready to go any time now - but there is still a slight chance that we will go another week or so. So again - pretty lame updates - but thought I would throw it out there. Regardless - we are at 36 weeks on Friday and this is the longest I have ever carried - so that is great news - we may actually get to bring our baby home with us this time!!!!
Madison had her 1 year today, 75 percentile for weight, 85 for height and yes... off the charts for head size - they can't even compare it to other kids - haha! She's doing great though! She got her 4 shots and a pricked finger and was a pretty tough little girl, only a few tears.
Matt is nesting like crazy - actually between him and my mom I don't even have the need to nest. Matt has been cleaning EVERYTHING - including the entire garage and we have been up until about 1 am the last 2 nights putting baby furniture together. Yeah - believe it - Matt has been using tools - I even got pictures to prove it. It's ok to have a few screws and bolts left over, right?

A Bucket of Fun...

In our efforts to stay cool and have fun today Madison had herself her own personal pool party... in an orange bucket. Who wouldn't have had fun sporting that stylish bikini though?! (compliments of The Smuff)

A little Kobe story...

So, since I got everyones hopes up saying the baby was coming and here it is a couple weeks later with nothing really changing and nothing to report - I thought I would at least share a little Kobe story to pass the time. Yesterday we went to Aunt Karen's house and she asked if I knew they had to put Lucky to sleep (their sweet dog of 14 years), and we were talking about it and Kobe wanted to know what we were talking about. So in my sweetest mommy voice I tried to kindly explain that they had to put Lucky to sleep, so of course he asked what that meant and Jess and I told him it means he went up to doggy heaven - Kobe then turned and looked at Aunt Karen wide eyed and dead serious and goes "You SHOT HIM?!?!" Hahaha - we all just about died laughing and Jess told him that he has been hanging around his Grandpa GB too much! I think we have gotten the whole putting animals to sleep with medicine and where they go (the doggy cemetary at the vet, of course) all cleared up now!

Counting down the days...

Still no baby news - but Matt and I did go on our "pre-baby" date tonight just in case. We went to dinner, finally decided on names (don't ask...) and to see Knocked Up. Hilarious movie! Then we just grabbed some ice cream and picked up the kiddies from Nana and Boppa's house. Last weekend I finished painting the nursery and we are hoping to get our new baby furniture delivered later this week. Not too much else going on - just keeping busy and wondering each day how much longer we have until #3 comes!

More un-informitive updates...

We went to the doctor again today and not much has really changed - so that was good news - he just says we could go any day now or it could be weeks. The great news we found out is that Lakeside now has a Nursery 2 so they deliver babies after 34 weeks now instead of only 37! So we will be delivering at Lakeside Hospital (http://www.alegent.com/body.cfm?id=55)!!! I have heard the food is great, they have whirlpools in the room and comfortable beds for the dads - so of course Matt couldn't ask for anything more - not to mention it is about 5 minutes from home.

CLARIFICATION!!

Just to clarify for those of you who were confused by our earlier email, (yes, I am mainly directing this to my golf widows out there...) the baby is not born yet, nor am I in labor. Hahaha! While we appreciate your enthusiasm - there is no baby news to report! We will keep you posted though!
